About Josh:
Joshua Kennard is artistic. He lives to find the beauty and music and taste and rhythm and smell and subtlety of all things. There is the Joy of Cooking. There is the flowering of sound. There is the flood of color and shape. There is the beat and pounding of demolition. There is the siren compulsion of melody. And there is the warm outpouring of the amazingness of humanity. And this is what a life of art, a life of the discovery of beauty in all its forms, a life of submission to the chords of creation, produces in humanity. Gush it out in poetry. Josh has found his voice in poetry. He communicates in the life force of Jack Kerouac, of Woodie Guthrie, of Allen Ginsburg, of those who went out into the world to find the glories of real people living their lives. Josh writes about vistas, journeys, interactions, the wood and pottery and stucco and jobs that real people live every day in every way. And from that, we better understand who we are and where we are and what we are. He publishes on social media because life in an ongoing stream of what we see from moment to moment. Trumpet it out in music. Josh has formed bands, sung in bands, and promoted other young and local bands who present the world in song. We want to see and hear and feel what our lives are – joy and pain and frustration and satisfaction. We have to get it into our bones and souls. Music is a way. Singe it out in sculpture. Josh created a 13-foot sculpture that stood in the middle of downtown Colorado Springs for two years. It was an award for him. It was an award for love. It proclaimed, “Nothing is greater than Love”, and “Nothing is less than Love.” It is the combination of opposites that make our lives rich and worth living Blast it out in imagery. Josh has been a featured painter in five painting exhibits. He is large and colorful. His work is filled with energy. He is focused on people and emotions. His paintings say that life cannot be contained by frames. Capture the frame. Josh has an eye for our world. He regularly posts the magnificent sunsets of Colorado. He shoots galleries of the homes we have so lovingly created and now have to leave. In these things he finds real life, real experience, real beauty, real joy. It is the vision of the good coming out of everyone. Live it out in community. Josh spent a year finding “the amazing” in our world and documenting it in a daily photo. “You are Amazing” decorated and his house and inspired those who drove by every day. Even now he heaps encouragement on a divisive, shattered world with his encouragement to people. Artistic living is a celebration of everything around you, the quest to see the best in the worst, the journey to bathe in the colors, the surgery to touch the inner goodness, the urge to thank others for living and the compulsion to yell it out, to laugh it out, cry it out for all to hear and feel and taste and smell and see in full flavor and colors and decibels and soft soothing caresses every day. That’s artistic. And that’s ….. Josh!
