:::Peak at the Arts: Global Artists Exchange Festival

Colorado Springs’ newest Arts Festival is coming to the Pikes Peak Center on October 8-9, 2010. The festival has invited the Art of the World to Discover, Create and Collaborate with Colorado Springs artists to produce 7 new collaborative works centered around Dance, Live Music, and Visual Art. This Festival grew out of an observation of the many world class artists presently residing in our inspirational city and their desire to share their visions with not only community members but to actively engage in an international dialogue as well. The Festival has invited these special Artists to collaborate in this year’s inaugural event:

  • The 4 Pelos/Losdenmedium Dance Company from San Jose, Costa Rica
  • Roberto Lizano, Costa Rican Visual Artist
  • The Kaminari Japanese Taiko Drum Ensemble from Japan and Crestone, Colorado
  • The 3rd Law Dance Company from Boulder, Colorado

Performing side by side with these companies in these unique works will be:

  • The Ormao Dance Company
  • Colorado Springs Chorale
  • Colorado Vocal Arts Ensemble
  • Quattro Mani/Colorado College
  • Pikes Peak Arts Council
  • Japan-America Society of Southern Colorado
  • Pikes Peak Community College
  • University of Colorado at Colorado Springs

Envisioned as the people's festival, this event seeks to include all art forms to work collaboratively in an experimental environment that seeks to create new forms and not to imitate existing ones. There is room for all ideas and aesthetics and the festival actively seeks participation from anybody willing to share. There are still opportunities for creative ventures to take place within the Pikes Peak Center coming this October 8-9, 2010. Additional information can be found at the festival's website by clicking here.
